celebrating a baby-on-the-way is quite the occasion,
and this weekend I had the opportunity to witness a beautiful mother-to-be in all her glorious glow.
regardless of what society deems gender specific,
I have always seen blue as neutral.
It is always welcoming
always lovely
and always warm.
if my design-knowledge serves me right, the colour blue is one of the most rare and difficult hues to produce,
and became "common" years after it's other primary siblings like red and yellow.
it was introduced to the world of fabric as unique and precious.
I couldn't think of a more appropriate shade to represent the pure wonder of a new and tiny life
so I paired flowing turquoise silk with gold-plated lace to soften any hard edges that a more structured navy suit might give off.

and unkept hair finishes a more casual afternoon-gathering-kinda-look.

but other than my outfit and a few decor details, there was nothing blue about the occasion.
only joy and hope and love and excitement.
(and cake pops)
Nik.

Love the blue! Elegant.
